The Association of Computing Students (ACS) at Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) hosted a powerful “Meet and Greet” session with the university’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, aimed at empowering and orienting first-year students of the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems (FoCIS).

Held at the GCTU main campus, the event served as a motivational and educational platform, bringing together hundreds of freshmen under one roof for guidance, inspiration, and community building.

A Morning of Motivation and Wisdom

The event began at 10:33 AM with an opening prayer by ACS PRO Hon. Gabriel Kwame Boahene, followed by a warm welcome from ACS Vice President Martell Nii Anyetei Tetteh, who introduced the keynote speaker, Professor Robert Ebo Hinson—renowned marketing expert and international speaker.

Professor Hinson opened with the uplifting gospel song “Omemma” by Chandler Moore, setting a tone of hope and energy. His keynote, themed “Developing a Winning Mindset,” delivered a series of impactful lessons that captivated the students.

Mrs. Magdalene Lamptey (In Red) Faculty Officer and GCTU Alumni President

Following Professor Hinson’s departure at 11:20 AM, Mrs. Magdalene Lamptey, Faculty Officer and GCTU Alumni President, addressed students on the theme “Start Right.” Her message focused on maximizing the university experience through discipline, support-seeking behavior, and community engagement. She wrapped up with a Q&A session, listening to student concerns and offering solutions.

A brief address by a representative from the Quality Assurance Department followed, providing insights into the department’s role and ongoing initiatives.

Student Leadership and Closing Moments

At 1:04 PM, ACS Organizer Hon. Divine Sosu introduced the 2024/2025 ACS Executive team, highlighting their portfolios and commitment to student welfare.

In his closing remarks, ACS Vice President Martell Nii Anyetei Tetteh applauded students for their strong turnout and encouraged punctuality and active participation in future events. He urged students to maintain a positive mindset and face university life with confidence and resilience.

The event concluded at 1:26 PM with a heartfelt closing prayer led by a freshman.
